what color to paint
Hi readers,

I am planning to paint my room. The old color was dark green and the ceiling white. MY room has 2 walls a third wall with a door and a fourth wall with a big window.I saw somewhere in the magazine people using dual colors on a single wall. That gave me some ideas. But now the question arises as to what color combination i can go with. Any suggestions kindly help.

RE: what color to paint
Hey thanks for asking nirmal. Welcome to the Painting Forum! What is the safest way of going about this is visiting your local paint store. There you should be able to find color swatches in either brochures or individual ones grouped together. Some swatches have several colors on each swatch strip. All of these colors tend to "Go together" in the same "Color family". Using any of these paint colors on the same wall or adjacent ones are safe for color coordination and decorating. Bringing a few color samples into the paint store as throws, pillows, comforters, carpet, tiles can be helpful in choosing the group of paint colors to choose from. Good luck, and let us know your outcome! Painting interior walls is by far the most inexpensive way of re-decorating an interior giving new life!

RE: what color to paint
As a result of the old color being dark green, you might want to think about using the Benjamin Moore paint line called "Aura", especially if you are planning on using significantly lighter colors. One of the pluses of using Aura is the excellent coverage it has. The company advertises that it has one coat coverage. In my experience depending on what color you use it sometimes comes close to one coat coverage, but it never blocks out the old color completely without the second coat. Another benefit of using Aura is that it dries in an hour with little odor so you can put another coat on very quickly after the first and then move back into your room in no time at all. It is also a Low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint, which means it has a low level of the chemicals that can cause health problems. Other benefits are that it is very easy to scrub, is mildew resistant, and has excellent adhesion properties as it sticks like glue. The thing that I like best about Aura paint is the excellent flow and leveling properties that it has which produce a beautiful finished look on any wall surface.
However, there are a couple of drawbacks using the quick drying Aura. One, is that it takes a little getting used to the application process. For example, if you go back and hit an area that has started to dry but isn't completely dry, you could wind up with a non uniform or mottled finish. Also, Aura paint is very expensive in comparison with other top of the line Benjamin Moore finish wall paints such as "Regal Wall Satin" (flat finish) and "Aquavevet" (Eggshell finish). The price difference is off set by the fact that Aura provides more coverage per Sq.Ft. than the less expensive quality paints which will reduce the total cost of paint needed for the job.

RE: what color to paint
Light shaded yellows and creams look superb with any combination of green shades. It would be good if you had a chance to visualize the colors. I would suggest that you check the online color center of California Paints. They have the ideal color palette matches and trendy shades. Also check their product list for some of the best rated interior paints.

RE: what color to paint
I like light brown color and it is the best for not showing dirt. And I also like yellows and baby blues, maybe shades of orange and sometimes purples. I would still personally avoid darker colors.

RE: what color to paint
Hey, I think that light color looks on wall decent and make our minds peaceful too. I think light green is wonderful, which I also personally like. It gives the natural look and provide the coolness to your room. You know I have just pained my room with this color and shared some videos and pics of my new pained & decorated room with my friends on LiveLike.it through my iPhone. They really liked it a lot . Hope you will like my suggestion too.
Thanks!!
