Erecta-Rack
I bought this in order to save space on a particular job. I recommend this product to any painter that does a lot of door and trim painting.

RE: Erecta-Rack
Great J, Thanks for sharing! Saving lots of space must say~ Before getting this, did you lean them up against the wall, tacking up a line of green paper behind them? Several years ago, had an exterior cedar siding replacement and staining job for large home. We had to have Cedar specially milled to correct thickness and dimension. Had lumber dropped off at our shop/warehouse where we hand brushed Sikkens Cetol 1 on all 4 sides of 1X6" T/G V-matched Select Tight Knot WRC. Boards 16-18' long. Once stained, leaned the up against wall, taking entire 1500 sq.ft. shop. Ran out of room, having to revisit procedure once first batch was dried. This is a very good idea for staining only one side at a time.

RE: Erecta-Rack
You could stain both sides as long as the back side of the siding is resting on the rods with this system.
I have never done a job to that extent you describe. But I bet you could have still used this system for it (provided it existed back then) ![]() When pre-painting trim for NC I used to lay out clean paper on the floor with stickers to put the trim on and shoot them in place. Now all I have to do is set up sawhorses, shoot them and stack them on this rack. This rack can stack as high as you want, as long as you buy enough of it. And yes, if it's laytex paint, then really only one side can be painted, but who ever paints both sides of a trim package? I also have a system that paints 20 doors on both sides horizontally with drying time. I'll post that system later.

Very
J. Saving time and space = $ Think back then, I spent more $ handling planks than getting stain on them. Keeping in mind Sikkens is a different breed of stain, not sure if you've ever used it, but quickly found out when staining with this product, complete surface must be stained. Goes on to say, complete side of home also, as no stopping point, being hand brushed. Leaves lines where stopping and starting again, not good. Can see Many advantages $$ using this system

I hand stained a full exterior with Cabots once. Never used Sikkens before, but I know about it. Most of my decks are done with Arborcoat by Benjamin Moore. I understand the lap marks, always go the full length of the board...

Sikkens Cetol pretty popular here in CO. if customer has $$, only hand brushed completely lol. and I know from experience ![]()
